When I placed my work on the easel, there was stunned silence---not in a good way. I know everyone was searching their brains to think of something positive to say and finally the teacher said that it had lots of energy!! However eventually some helpful comments were made and I am trying to employ those suggestions.
Here is what I showed first but in all fairness, I will tell you that I have worked on it since the comments were made. Obviously much more work is needed but it has progressed a bit. The one on the right is how this painting started. Any suggestions are welcomed and will be seriously considered!
Here is the other painting I showed but I have not yet worked on it since getting suggestions. It is from a previous class in which we went through a progression of steps to see what could be achieved. There are probably a dozen geckos hidden in this painting for whatever that is worth!
There is a definite nip in the air. The leaves could not be more beautiful as they float to the ground. Okay I will admit that I am not too happy about how they cover my car and sometimes think that it would be nice to have a garage. However when they have all fallen, I will certainly miss their glory but there is another beauty in the starkness of the bare trees that I will enjoy when the time arrives. Wonder if their limbs will be coated with white any this winter?

I don't remember the silence being stunned but rather thoughtful. The painting is so different from every other one that we all had to study and look our fill before commenting. There was silence for a while for each painting all during the class as we wanted to make constructive comments and not just blabber. And the movement of the fish is great.
