But the Shouting

It's all over But the Shouting.  HOORAY!

The bathroom is finished and being enjoyed.  Why is it that I think I should have had Before pics when it is too late?  I do have one of the horrible tub that is gone, gone, gone!

Yep, it is the very bad, horrible tub with the shower spray that was fine for me but my sons both said it hit them at about the kneecaps!  The pic on the right is of the the closet and the shelves before they were filled to capacity with books and various other things.  That is the site of the water closet now.

The tub was replaced with this wonderful shower with a very high spray.  The new sink is where a rather mundane vanity was.  I miss the storage but not the look of it.  I wanted a medicine cabinet but there were structural problems so I got this vintage mirror with wavy glass.  My contractor was not so sure when I brought it home but he later agreed with my choice.  The towel is on a toilet paper holder which is perfect!

During construction, it was discovered that a fire had been in the attic so the 7.5 ft ceiling was removed to reveal that the bathroom had at one time been a porch.  The slant was kept and whitewashed tongue and groove boards were installed.  Of course, I had to have shelves to replace the ones that were removed.  Above the shelves is an old stained glass window that I got at a flea market about 20 years ago. Notice I have not yet filled the top shelf!

Another discovery was the transom window that had once been over the door.  I decided to recover it.  The last picture is of the water closet with the pocket door.  Generally I am not a huge fan of WCs but because I have to walk through the bathroom to get to my bedroom (yes, it is a very odd little house), it makes it possible to do so when the WC is in use.   As if there are not enough books in the bathroom, I also have a small stack of Mark Twain books on the floor of the WC to use as a table.  The latest copyright on them was 1915 and for some reason, the dealer sold them to me at a steal! Oh, I hope that my DIL, Francis, who is a graphic designer, will make a cool font and paint OCCUPIED on the door.  An interesting note about the doors, the pocket door was made from the old closet door and has 2 panels, the door to my bedroom has 4 panels and the door to the dining room has (you guessed it) 6 panels.  I had never noticed it!!!

As always, I would love to hear from you.
